The studio is a welcoming space for families and friends to share the experience of seeing their baby for the first time. I have been sharing pregnancy journeys with hundreds, possibly thousands, of local women for more than 20 years scanning with South Coast Ultrasound for Women. Obstetric ultrasound is my passion and supporting the mental health of pregnant women by facilitating the bond between mother and child is an added privilege.
Located in the relaxed, seaside community of Shellharbour Village, the studio is in a quiet, private setting, set back from the street, surrounded by amazing local small businesses.
What are 3D Ultrasounds?
The traditional black and white ultrasound images we are all familiar with are what we call 2D images.
A 3D ultrasound image is a real-life representation of what your baby looks like in utero. The baby’s features can be recognised and compared with those of the parents and siblings. Facial expressions can sometimes be captured!
What is a Baby Gender Scan?
A baby’s gender is determined at conception. An obstetric trained sonographer might be able to determine a baby’s gender at the Nuchal Translucency Scan at the 12-14 week mark, however, it is easy to get wrong due to fetal position and maternal body habitus. Hence why it is best to wait just that little bit longer to have a gender scan – the odds of accuracy are better from 15 weeks!
Essentially, all of pregnancy and childbirth is somewhat out of one’s control. The only element that is controllable is if you know the gender and how you find out. It’s a significant way of giving women a feeling of some certainty.
What is a Pregnancy Reassurance Scan?
A reassurance scan can provide you with some comfort in between your formal diagnostic ultrasounds. Has your pregnancy journey been challenging? Have you had a previous loss or multiple losses? Maybe you have recently gone through some challenging times outside of your pregnancy? Even if your pathway to parenthood has been without complication, it is still reassuring to see your baby. Whether it’s too early to feel movement or resolving pregnancy symptoms leave you feeling anxious, a quick peak of your baby can make all the difference to your mindset.

- 15 – 20 minute session.
- Listen to your baby’s heart beat.
- 2D and 3D images of your baby’s features.
- 4D videos if the opportunity arises and baby is moving about.
- All 2D/3D/4D images and videos downloaded to your mobile via text message link.
Gender Scan
$100 (From 15 weeks onwards.)
Includes:
- 10 minute session.
- 2D images only.
- Listen to baby’s heart beat.
- Find out the baby’s gender on the spot or receive a card containing the gender to be revealed at a time and place that suits you.
- All 2D images downloaded to your mobile via text message link.
Pregnancy Reassurance Scan
$80 (From 8 weeks onwards)
Includes:
- 5-10 minute scan.
- 2D images only.
- See your baby’s heartbeat.
- All 2D images available for download via a link sent to your mobile.
Optional Extras
- A4 sheet of photos (6 per page) $5 per sheet.
